Policy Updates: What We've Been Working On
September was a busy and productive month for EDSA Policy! We wrapped up our Mental Health Position Paper by integrating the Board’s valuable feedback and submitting the final draft to EPSA. Alongside that, we teamed up with the Public Health Officer for Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week and worked closely with the Vice President of External Affairs to map out updates for EDSA’s existing policy papers. It was also wonderful connecting with many of you to hear which policy topics matter most to you, while kicking off outreach to potential speakers for our upcoming Policy Cafés. Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas!
October brings even more exciting steps forward. With Board approval, we are kicking off the renewal process for the WHO Global Strategy and Action Plan on Oral Health 2023–2030, while getting ahead on our upcoming policy reviews well before the Spring Meeting. We are also lining up dates and topics for our Policy Cafés, so stay tuned for updates! Your voice shapes our work—if there is a policy issue you care about, don't hesitate to reach out and get involved!
Public Health in Action: Highligts and What's Next
September was a busy month for EDSA Public Health. We ran our Make Sense Campaign week, dedicating each day to a different focus under the theme "Right care at the right time." The campaign reached 42.8K views in just six days. Thank you to everyone who watched, liked and shared!
Patient Day was our strongest post, with over 9,000 views and the widest audience of the week, showing how powerful real patient stories can be. Our Awareness carousel was the most liked post, and its "Early signs" slide stood out. We hope the message stays with you: 1 symptom, 3 weeks. If it doesn't go away, get it checked.
October keeps the momentum going. On 10 October we are marking World Mental Health Day, shining a light on the wellbeing of dental students and professionals. Then, on 14 October, we are teaming up with the Alliance for a Cavity-Free Future (ACFF) for World Cavity-Free Future Day.
And there's more: join the Public Health team! We are opening one Co-lead position to help plan our prevention calendar and shape the campaigns ahead. If you're passionate about prevention and ready to make a real impact, this is your chance. Don't hesitate to apply!
New Destinations, New Expireances: Mobility Updates
The new academic year brings another exciting chapter of mobility opportunities for EDSA members. As we look ahead, we are preparing a new term filled with opportunities to explore different countries, meet dental students from across Europe, experience new cultures and broaden your perspective beyond your home university.
Many of the projects and opportunities that students enjoyed last year will continue, including Winter Camps and European Visiting Programmes, while new opportunities and destinations will also be introduced. We are especially excited to welcome a new host country to our mobility family this year! There is already a lot happening behind the scenes, and we cannot wait to share more with you. All information regarding the First Term Mobility opportunities will be announced throughout November.
So, stay tuned — you might want to keep your plans flexible for what is coming next!
